A housewife was beaten to death allegedly by her husband in Natore’s Baraigram upazila today.
The deceased was identified as Sonia, 26, wife of Liton of Majhgaon village of the upazlia, our Natore correspondent reports quoting Abu Siddique, officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station.
Police have already detained Liton from Banpara area while he was trying to flee from the house.
Quoting locals, the OC said Liton, a bhangari (second-hand goods) trader, had a quarrel with his wife in their house around 12pm.
At one stage, he strangulated her to death after beating her mercilessly and fled the house, he said.
On information, police recovered the body and took it to the police station, said the OC, adding that the process of filing a case is underway.
During the primary interrogation, Liton admitted to beating his wife but not killing her, the OC added.
