Theft by deception: Blossom Lane
At 2:50 p.m. March 9, a Beachwood woman, 70, reported that she was the victim of an online scam. The woman was contacted by someone fraudulently claiming to be a representative of the electric company.
The caller stated that the woman was behind in her bill payment and that her electric service would be cut off if she didn’t immediately pay. The woman was instructed to purchase PayPal gift cards and give the number on the cards to the caller. The woman did as told and lost $480.19.
Auto theft: Chagrin Boulevard
At 10:45 a.m. March 9, a Beachwood man, 33, reported that his car was stolen, with its key, from the lot of The Vue apartments, 23220 Chagrin Blvd. The man told police he was working out at the apartment and left his key in the cupholder of a treadmill.
Domestic violence: Green Road
At 2:25 a.m. March 10, a Beachwood woman, 20, reported that she had been hit while in her apartment by her boyfriend, a Beachwood man, 20. The man left the scene before the woman called police. Police are investigating.
Family offense: Cedar Road
At 8:40 p.m. March 10, a boy, 14, was seen walking on Cedar Road, at Richmond Road, wearing only socks, shorts and a t-shirt, and wrapped in a blanket. Police investigated and learned that the boy was walking to the police station to report that his mother had hit him with a stick. Police are investigating.
