United States Postal Service warns job seekers to look out for scams

The United States Postal Service is hiring, but they’ve seen some confusion on how to apply that could lead to job seekers accidentally getting scammed.USPS is actively recruiting new hires and is posting up to 100 new jobs every day on its website.They need mail carriers, postal clerks, and mail handlers, offering both part-time and full-time jobs.But if you want to fill out an application online, one of your best options is to go directly to the USPS website.”I also post our jobs on the Vermont Department of Labor website as well,” said Ashley Hamilton, a hiring liaison and operations specialist with the USPS. “But there are websites out there that are scamming people and charging them up to $90 to apply for a job and we do not charge for people to apply for a job.”If you want to learn more about working for the postal service, Hamilton will be hosting job fairs at the Shelburne Post Office on Jan. 18, the Essex Post Office on Pearl St. on Jan. 24, and at the Barre Post Office on Jan. 26.
