U.S. Army warns of military draft in text scam

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — The United States Army Recruiting Command is warning Americans about a new scam appearing in text messages across the country.

The text messages will state that a military draft is occurring and the recipient must report for duty or face legal action and financial consequences.

The messages may or may not have a number to call, but usually include an address to a nearby recruiting station, according to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials strongly urge individuals to avoid calling the number if it is included.
