The man reportedly identified as Litan Chakma replied to his mail and offered to get the dog delivered via logistics and transportation services. However, he asked for the payment of Rs 43,000 — the first instalment of the purchase — to be completed for the process to be initiated.
Litan Chakma even broke down the amount to convince the doctor, the Times of India (TOI) said in a report. He allegedly to the victim that Rs 30,500 as an advance payment for the dog while Rs 12,500 was for the cage to transport the animal safely, the report said.
Unsuspecting his intentions, the medical practitioner transferred the said amount on December 6. However, neither was the animal delivered nor was the money returned, the daily said.
The victim decided to approach the CEN crime police when the dealer began ghosting his call after the transaction went through, the daily said.
