Toronto woman allegedly out $1 million in construction fraud scam

Three Toronto men have been charged following a construction fraud investigation in which a 75-year-old woman was allegedly bilked of over $1 million.

Toronto Police allege the woman hired a contractor to do renovations at her Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. W. home and was then defrauded.

A Feb. 2011-Oct. 2022 investigation revealed another 14 Greater Toronto Area victims had allegedly been defrauded of over $400,000 combined. Five of these victims were also elderly.

Antonio Sinopoli, 54, is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime, and laundering proceeds of crime. Wayne McNeil, 45, is charged with two counts of fraud over $5,000. Francesco Sinopoli, 27, is charged with fraud over $5,000.

Police believe there may be more victims and say the contractor operated under the following company names in the GTA: In Time For Finishing Touches, Scala Exteriors, AFS Contracting, and Design and Upper Level Renovations.
