COVENTRY: On Dec. 8, Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated the egging of 20 school buses in a Cormany Road garage.
A utility worker reported he went inside a fenced yard at a West Ingleside Drive residence Dec. 9 and a dog came out and bit him. He declined medical attention.
A man reported his vehicle was egged Dec. 9 between 9:40 and 10:03 p.m. while it was parked outside a Manchester Road restaurant.
A customer of a Manchester Road store asked deputies Dec. 9 for a copy of video surveillance of another customer pushing a shopping cart across the parking lot that missed the cart corral and damaged his vehicle.
A Nancy Avenue man reported Dec. 10 his ex-wife came to his residence uninvited and assaulted him. Due to conflicting information provided, no charges were filed.
Following a traffic stop Dec. 10, deputies charged a Snyder Street man with driving without a license and carrying a concealed weapon after a loaded handgun was found under the driver’s seat. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.
A vehicle that was partially blocking a southbound lane in a construction zone of Interstate 77 Dec. 11 was towed to an impound lot. Deputies found the vehicle had a license plate registered to a different vehicle.
A Portage Point Boulevard man reported Dec. 13 someone stole a check made out to him and deposited it to an online stock trading site.
Also on Dec. 13, a Wood Duck Lane woman reported the catalytic converter was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at her residential complex.
A Darnell Drive man reported Dec.14 someone opened a checking and savings account in his name at a bank he does not use.
Deputies investigated the theft of tools and construction equipment from a business on Logan Parkway Dec. 14.
A Portage Lakes Drive man reported Dec. 14 someone opened a social media account in his name and posted disparaging comments about a woman.
Employees of a Manchester Road bar reported Dec. 15 a man was bothering patrons and refused repeated requests to leave. The man refused to provide identification and would not allow deputies to escort him outside. The Barberton man was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the Summit County Jail.

GREEN: A Creekview Circle woman reported Dec. 7 a person who claimed to work for a utility company told her that her service would be shut off unless she made an immediate payment. She used a mobile application to pay $894 before calling her utility company and learning it was a scam.
A Glenridge Road man reported Dec. 7 a caller convinced him he represented an online shopping website and that a fraudulent charge had been made to his account. The victim purchased gift cards totaling $1,000 and provided the numbers to the caller, who convinced him to purchase $4,000 more in gift cards, but an employee at the store where he went to make the purchase cautioned him that it was a scam.
On Dec. 8, Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle in a Town Crossing Boulevard parking lot.
A Tahiti Drive man reported his vehicle was egged Dec. 8.
Deputies arrested a Canton man for criminal simulation after he attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill at an Arlington Ridge Road restaurant and took him to the Summit County Jail on a felony drug warrant Dec. 9.
Also on Dec. 9, deputies searched an area near Koons Road for two men wearing headlamps and carrying laser pointers.
A Pelton Avenue man stopped for a traffic violation on Interstate 77 Dec. 9 was charged with driving under suspension and arrested on a warrant. Deputies found 26 license plates in his vehicle during a tow inventory and determined none of them had been reported stolen.
A Wise Road woman reported Dec. 10 a heart monitor was stolen from a locked vehicle outside her residence.
Employees of an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road business reported Dec. 11 a woman was loitering at the business and refused to leave. The Mogadore woman told deputies she was waiting for a ride that did not show up, and they transported her to a Massillon Road location to get a ride.
The owner of a South Main Street business reported money was stolen from a safe Dec. 11 between 2 and 9:50 a.m. Deputies found no sign of forced entry.
A Mayfair Road man reported Dec. 11 he paid $400 for a cellphone through an online payment service and went to a location to pick up the phone, but the seller did not show up.
Deputies responded to an argument that turned physical at a Town Park Boulevard bar Dec. 12. Patrons separated the two men, who resolved their differences and went their separate ways.
An Aylesford Road woman reported Dec. 12 a package was stolen from outside her home. Deputies were reviewing video surveillance of the incident.
On Dec. 13, deputies reviewed video surveillance from a Massillon Road automotive business during the investigation of theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the parking lot the previous night.
A woman reported Dec. 13 she allowed a friend to use her vehicle for a few hours, but the woman failed to return it. Deputies determined the Edison Avenue woman had been arrested for shoplifting by the Tallmadge Police Department and taken to the Summit County Jail, and the vehicle had been towed. The vehicle owner was notified. The following day, deputies went to the jail and charged the woman with theft after viewing video surveillance that showed the woman stole cartons of cigarettes from a Massillon Road store and drove off in her friend’s vehicle the previous day.
A Glen Eagles Boulevard woman reported an unwanted guest Dec. 13. Deputies confirmed the man’s name was not on the lease and advised the Pintail Court man that if he returned to the residence he would be arrested for trespassing.
The owner of a construction company on Miller Park Road reported Dec. 14 someone altered a rental payment check, forged it and cashed it for more than $1,600.

LAKEMORE: A Raymond Avenue man was pulled over Dec. 20 and cited for driving under suspension and having expired plates and was advised of numerous warrants. An Alliance man who was a passenger in the car was turned over to Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a warrant. None of the occupants were the registered owner of the vehicle, and it was towed from the scene.
Also Dec. 20, an Emory Circle woman reported someone used her personal information in an attempt to open a fraudulent bank account. The woman told police her identity theft protection service stopped the attempt and alerted her.
Police were contacted Dec. 21 about a man passed out inside a car in front of a Canton Road store. Police found the man sleeping with the driver’s door open and his feet hanging out, touching the ground. After being woken, he reportedly told police he was waiting for his friend, who was shopping inside the store. Both the man and his female friend were found to be invalid drivers, and the man had several warrants out of the Akron Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. The man was turned over to Wayne County deputies, and the owner of the car — a relative of the friend — arrived to pick it up.
Employees at a Hidden Lake Boulevard warehouse facility reported Dec. 22 finding more than $24,000 in fraudulent business checks written during the prior month. An attempt to create checks for an additional $9,900 was reportedly caught by the company’s accounts-payable security system.
Also on Dec. 22, a Short Street man reported his ex-girlfriend threatened him. The man said the woman had made threats to call police, claimed he assaulted her and had arrived at his house unannounced. Police advised the man not to answer the woman’s calls or texts and to call police if she comes to his home again.

NEW FRANKLIN: Police were called to a domestic incident at a Maywood Drive home Dec. 20. The caller said a resident of the home became angry at a holiday party and grabbed her and her daughter and also reportedly threatened to use firearms. The man was charged with assault and nine firearms were taken by police for safekeeping.
A man was arrested for impaired driving after police were called Dec. 21 for a report of a person and vehicle at a closed business. The caller stated they heard screaming coming from the vehicle and saw a man get out of the car and urinate on the business. Police located the driver near Center Road and reportedly noticed he smelled of alcohol. The man failed field sobriety tests and refused a breath test and reportedly urinated on himself in the the cruiser. He was later released to a sober person.

SPRINGFIELD: The following incidents took place at a South Arlington Road store Dec. 12: An Akron woman was arrested for stealing $117 worth of items when she and a juvenile were seen skip-scanning items at a self-checkout register; two Akron females were arrested for disorderly conduct and theft after failing to ring up $188 worth of items at a self-checkout register and then reportedly becoming disorderly, resisting arrest and using offensive language when confronted by store security; and an Akron man was arrested when security video reportedly showed him putting a rotary tool into a bag and putting black work gloves into his pockets and leaving the store without paying. He also was found with a glass pipe in his pocket and additionally cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. All were also banned from the store.
Also on Dec. 12, a James Avenue resident reported damage to his property caused by a tree-removal company. The resident said his neighbor had a tree removed from their property and the person who removed it left gashes in his yard and marks on his driveway.
The owner of a Canton Road body shop reported three catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles Dec. 12.
Police investigated a car parked in the driveway of an Old Home Road home Dec. 12. The property owner had recently evicted tenants and had asked police to keep an eye on the property, which was posted with a no-trespassing sign….
