Sept. 2
Deputy Kory Smith responded to the front lobby of the Sheriff’s Office, in reference to a walk-in complaint. Upon arrival Deputy Smith made contact with Rita Doyle. Ms. Doyle stated she had an unauthorized charge made on her bank account. Ms. Doyle advised the charge came from an online gaming company (epal.gg) in the amount of $226.17. This case has been forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
Sept. 3
WCSO deputies assisted FHP with a serious traffic crash on Crawfordville Highway.
Sept. 4
Deputy Andrea Farmer responded to 71 Penny Road reference a criminal mischief complaint. The victim advised that two windows had been broken at a construction site they own. Deputy Farmer was able to observe some footprints possibly belonging to the suspect around the construction site. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
Sept. 5
Deputies responded to a home on Nandina Way reference a battery. Contact was made with victim Shellie Wagner and her husband Matt Wagner. Matt is a business partner with Joseph Dehaven- Smith, and they are currently having business issues. Joseph showed up to the residence after being told not to. Once at the residence Matt Wagner and Dehaven-Smith got into an argument. Shellie Wagner came outside to have them calm down due to the kids being around. Dehaven-Smith then reportedly began to curse at Shellie Wagner and grabbed her by the wrist, twisting her arm. Matt Wagner pushed Dehaven-Smith back and told him to leave again. Dehaven-Smith got in his vehicle and left the scene. Matt and Shellie Wagner requested to not pursue charges and only wished a trespass warning issued for Dehaven-Smith.
Deputy William Bennett responded to Short Drive reference a theft of a canoe. Contact was made with the victim and 10-year-old suspect. The juvenile thought he had permission to borrow it. The victim/owner advised that the suspect did not have permission to use the canoe. However due to the canoe being returned, the owner elected not to pursue charges.
Chancelor Gilly reported being struck by Tyler Wimberly while staying in a room at the Best Western on Highway 98. Video could not be viewed at the time of report. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
Sept. 6
Deputy Scott and Deputy Polous responded to Greenlea Circle reference a theft. Upon arrival contact was made with victims Jenene and Tommy Adair. Jenene stated she paid $125 via Cash App to a person claiming to be Sandra Hill. The money was payment for a Yorkie puppy. During the investigation it was determined the Facebook page used was hacked. The suspect attempted to have Jenene Adair pay an additional $185 for a registration fee. Jenene Adair tried to pay the suspect to multiple Cash App and PayPal accounts provided, but was luckily unsuccessful. Jenene Adair realized it was a scam after the suspect blocked her account on Cash App and Facebook. Jenene Adair provided a sworn affidavit and affidavit for prosecution. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
Deputy Scott and Deputy Polous responded to Penny Road reference criminal mischief. Contact was made with Sherri Parsons, co-owner of Southern Construction. Southern Construction is currently building five homes on Penny Road. During the construction all of the homes have had windows broken. Today it was noticed one of the windows for 55 Penny Road were broken during the night. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
Sept. 7
Beau-Davy Davis reported unknown persons cut his wire fencing. Four-wheelers had been in the area prior to finding the damage. Davis just wanted the damage documented and did not wish to pursue charges.
Trevor Armstrong was arrested after making multiple 911 calls requesting and then demanding a deputy give him a ride, according to WCSO. It should be noted that this is an ongoing problem with Armstrong. Deputy Dustin Matthews made contact with Armstrong and arrested in connection with a charge of Misuse of 911. Armstrong was placed in a patrol car and provided with a ride to the Wakulla County Jail.
Deputy Kory Smith responded to a home on Rehwinkel Road, in reference to the complainant’s tools missing out of his vehicle. Upon arrival Deputy Smith made contact with Edward Woodward. Woodward advised someone had stolen several tools out of the back of his vehicle. Woodward advised the vehicle was left unsecured. Woodward estimated the value of the tools at $1,000. This case has been forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
Sept. 8
Deputy Kory Smith responded to Otter Creek Road in reference to a theft. Upon arrival James Harvey advised someone took his wallet while he was in the hospital. He was unsure if he had the wallet with him at the hospital or if he left it at his house. Harvey wanted the incident documented.
Sept. 9
Cynthia Lynn reported being the victim of a fraud. Lynn advised she placed a purse on Facebook Market Place for sale. She received an email stating she did not have a business account and was advised to send $200 to set up the account. Lynn sent the $200 to the suspect for account setup. The requester then requested more money, which Lynn sent but due to the suspicious activity her bank stopped the transaction. This case has been sent to detectives for further investigation.
Deputy Ernesto Trujillo arrested Harley Essman after it was learned during a traffic stop that Essman did not have a valid driver’s license. A check of the state database showed Essman had several prior suspensions and was currently suspended, according to WCSO. Harley Essman was arrested for driving while license suspended or revoked and transported to the Wakulla County Jail.
Sept. 11
A power line came down during a rainstorm, which caused an electrical fire inside a home. The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen area then traveled to the roof of the home. There is estimated damage of approximately $70,000. Red Cross was notified and will be responding to the residence. Deputy William Bennett investigated.
Sept. 13
Frances Burdette reported her shed had been shot multiple times with a BB-gun. Burdette estimated the damages at approximately $100. Deputy Carla Skelly investigated
Christopher Hill reported someone hacking into his bank account. Hill stated $9784.17 was taken from his account. The incident has been reported to Hill’s bank. This incident has been sent to detectives for further investigation. Deputy Kendrick Gavin investigated.
Sept. 15
Deputy Michelle Stripling responded to the Sheriff’s Office Annex reference a battery already occurred. Upon arrival contact was made with Tammy Vaillancourt. Vaillancourt advised on Sept. 12 she was in her home when she received a notification of motion from her camera. Vaillancourt opened the notification and observed an unknown white male standing in her yard looking in a window. Vaillancourt walked out of her residence and walked around the house. The male grabbed her by the wrist, but Vaillancourt utilized a head-butt and a front kick to break free. The male then ran into the woods. Vaillancourt only wanted the incident documented and signed an affidavit for non-prosecution.
