Shoes come in all shapes and sizes, but sometimes what you order online is not what you get.
Column: Sometimes you know you’re making a dumb decision, but you just can’t quite pull up in time.
Shoes. I wanted to buy some new sneakers, ones that would add a little swagger to springtime. After some casual googling, I found Cariuma, which boasted enchanting colours and snappy lines and excellent environmental credentials.
I window-shopped the website night after night, never quite pulling the trigger, because despite all the aforementioned benefits, they were also fairly spendy.
And then, one fateful evening, I stumbled upon a new website. CariumaNZ, it was. The shoes were on special. Every colour and size was available.

The site looks almost identical to the other one I’d seen, with the same banners and pictures. There were a couple of little anomalies – the grammar was just a little off, and the descriptions didn’t flow quite as well. Little things, easy to ignore if you wanted the dream to be true. And I did.
