A Trenton woman was swindled out of $900 after following instructions from an unknown caller who told her she had two open bank accounts.
The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. on Oct. 30.
It is unclear what the woman was attempting to “fix” with the caller’s help.
Nevertheless, he told her she needed to pay $900 upfront and she could put that money on a gift card and then tell him the gift card.
The resident went to a Target and purchased a $500 gift card, and another one for $400.
She told police she called the man back and gave him the numbers on the credit card.
Shortly after that, the woman became suspicious of the caller, so she contacted Target and was informed that the cards had already been used.
The woman then went to police to report the incident.
