Staff at the New England Federal Credit Union of Williston are volunteering some of their time after a full day’s work to make phone calls and raise money for the annual COTS Phonathon.Around 20 staff members at NEFCU have the goal of making 400 phone calls Tuesday night to help COTS reach its goal of $250,000.COTS plans on using the funds raised in the ITS phonathon event to enhance its programs that serve people experiencing homelessness.Rebekah Mott spent Tuesday morning following up with donors after a successful first night of COTS’ oldest and largest fundraiser.“We’re hopeful that we’ll meet our goal by Thursday. We had a really strong opening night,” she said. “We raised $60,000 which is just under 25% of our overall goal.”The $250,000 phonathon target goal will go towards supporting their prevention programs, their operating shelters and the newest Main Street Family Housing project set to be completed in June. “COTS supports the community, and on the other hand, the community supports cots and that’s how we’re able to function,” Mott said.
