The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Tereasa Nims.
Wednesday, Dec. 14
10:45 p.m. – A deputy removed a construction safety fence from the roadway that was causing a traffic hazard.
8:38 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to a Greendale Township gravel pit for a water pump that was running and causing noise. The deputy contacted the 57-year-old male complainant and advised him how to handle township ordnance violations.
8:12 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to an Edenville Township location for a report of a vicious loose dog. The Deputy checked the area, and the dog was unable to be located.
8:20 p.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a Greendale Township residence regarding a dispute between a 35-year-old woman and her 40-year-old boyfriend. The alteration was verbal only and no assault occurred. The Deputy gave the man a ride to a relative’s house for the evening to deescalate the situation.
4:28 p.m. – A deputy was dispatched to the Village of Sanford for a vehicle causing a traffic hazard. The deputy located the vehicle and its owner. The owner advised he would move the truck completely off the roadway. The vehicle was tagged as abandoned and the owner was given 48 hours to get it off the roadway.
12:37 p.m. – Deputies were referred by adult protective services regarding an 87-year-old victim of a phone scam. The woman was told she won a substantial amount of money from Publishers Clearing House, and to receive the funds, she had to pay a disclosed amount of cash. The woman withdrew the funds, but realized it was a scam and did not pay the amount that was requested. The woman said her daughter is her financial power of attorney, and her daughter was made aware of the incident by APS.
11:37 p.m. – A deputy located a vehicle in Warren Township that was improperly towing another vehicle. The vehicle was left parked on the shoulder until a truck and trailer returned to properly tow the vehicle.
11:04 a.m. – A deputy was dispatched to an Ingersoll Township location for a well-being check. The deputy contacted a 22-year-old Standish woman, who advised she was okay and did not need assistance.
9:36 a.m. – Deputies were referred to a Midland Township residence by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services regarding an alleged assault involving two brothers, ages 7 and 13. Contact was made with the mother of the children who advised they were wrestling, and it may have gotten out of hand. The woman said she did not wish to have law enforcement involved in the situation.
9:31 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to Warren Township regarding a domestic between a 30-year-old Warren Township woman and her live-in 34-year-old boyfriend. The man suffered minor injuries. The woman was subsequently arrested and transported to the Midland County Jail for aggravated domestic charges.
12:26 a.m. – Deputies responded to a Jerome Township residence regarding a 911 hang-up. Deputies contacted a 41-year-old Jerome Township woman who was highly intoxicated. The woman said she did not need law enforcement and asked deputies to leave her property.
