Husband reveals moment he and missing fraudster Melissa Caddick “fell in love”

Melissa Caddick’s husband has detailed the moment he fell in love with the future-fraudster, despite her being married to another man at the time.

Ms Caddick disappeared from her Sydney eastern suburbs mansion in mysterious circumstances in November 2020, just a day after her home was raided by police and the corporate regulator.

Ms Caddick has been accused of ripping off millions of dollars from investors, and her suspected death is being examined in a coronial inquest.

Her husband, part-time DJ and hairdresser Anthony Koletti, has told the court that he had no knowledge of her Ponzi scheme and believed she was investing millions in the stock market for her clients.

In an statement tendered to the court, Mr Koletti, 40, explained how he met Ms Caddick at a salon where he worked in 2005.

At the time, she was married to her first husband and in 2011 was preparing to move to London with her family.

“We agreed to meet to have lunch so that Melissa could say goodbye,” Mr Koletti said in the affidavit, dated September 21.

“It was during this lunch that our friendship shifted from hairdresser and client to a more intimate friendship.

“We did not have any intimate contact at this time other than a farewell kiss. However, I believe Melissa fell in love with me. I fell in love with her at this moment.“
