Green Springs, Ohio — The Green Springs Police Department is warning the public about a new scam that they say is targeting area residents.
Recently, residents have been getting messages on their cellphones stating that certain services are restricted to payment through PayPal, Amazon, or some other online retail location, according to Green Springs PD.

“It will then provide a link to click in order to check the case or status… PLEASE DON’T CLICK THAT LINK,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “It is a scam and your information will be in jeopardy of getting hacked or taken.”
Police reminded area residents that they will be notified of any payment-related issues for services through official apps or email communications, “not a random text message.”
