Many people have committed suicide and faced harassment by loan applications after borrowing money from them in different parts of India.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh DGP Rajendranath Reddy said detailed guidelines have been devised to deal with cases of harassment by loan apps.
“From now onwards, various service providers will be made accused in such cases. The tech majors and others services associated with fraud loan apps would be given notices under CrPc to share details about fraud apps,” a report in Times of India quoted Andhra DGP Reddy as saying.
He further said that these entities would be made co-accused if they do not respond to notices.
The DGP added that bankers will also face the action as they are providing bank accounts to individuals and firms without proper verification.
Police have also sent notices to several bankers to share details of suspicious accounts. According to DGP, scammers operating loan apps are sitting in foreign lands like China and getting these apps developed in India.
He said the app developers may also face action as they should know the purpose of the app and whether they would be used to commit crimes.
