Denise Welch targeted by online fraudsters on Twitter in fake ‘giveaways’ account scam

Denise Welch has been the subject of a scam from online fraudsters to trick people into thinking they can win an array of different prizes.

Geordie actress and Loose Women star Denise has 517,000 followers on the social media account and on Tuesday night posted on her account after being alerted to a fake account set up in her name.

The self-proclaimed ‘official’ account which called itself ‘Denise Welch’ with the handle @official_Dwelch tried to con fans with its bio which read ‘Official Denise Welch giveaways page. Message me privately to be among the selected winner to stand a chance to win a brand new car, holidays and houses.”

The account followed Denise and retweeted a number of her posts.

But, after being tipped off by one of her friends who spotted the page, Denise was quick to warn fans that it had absolutely nothing to do with her, with the former Coronation Street star taking a screen shot of the profile and wrote “Another pathetic fake page.”

Seeing the funny side, one of Denise’s followers wrote: “What car is it?” with a second replying: “Wow!Generous aren’t you???!!!”

Yesterday Denise sparked quite a reaction on Twitter with her defence of Prince Harry in light of the news that Prince Andrew had settled a civil sexual assault case brought against him in the US by Virginia Giuffre.
