Blotter: Fatal accident, gift card scam, drug possession, theft, criminal mischief

East Hanover Township

Drug Possession – At 7:16 p.m. May 29, police conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Toyota on Allentown Boulevard for a Title 75 violation. Police detected indicators of impairment and conducted a consent search, resulting in the seizure of marijuana and related paraphernalia. A 20-year-old Palmyra man was arrested. Charges will be filed.

Jackson Township

Theft – Police responded to the 100 block of North Ramona Road for a reported gift card scam, which occurred sometime between April 30 and May 3. Police determined that the victim, a 70-year-old Myerstown woman, gave approximately $3,500 to an unknown actor via gift cards.

Drug Possession – At 12:17 p.m. May 18, police conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Mazda Mazda 3 on Kutztown and Mountain View roads. Police detected indicators of criminal activity, obtained a search warrant, and seized drugs and related paraphernalia. The arrestees were a 32-year-old Jonestown woman, a 31-year-old Myerstown man, and a 34-year-old Myerstown man. Charges will be filed.

Fatal Accident – A 54-year-old Myerstown man was killed June 1 in a collision with an SUV on Route 501. According to police, a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer driven by a 47-year-old Myerstown woman was traveling north on Route 501 at about 6:46 a.m. when she initiated a left turn onto westbound King Street without properly clearing the south lane.
