The BBB is bracing for a spike in calls and reports after the Federal Trade Commission issued a consumer alert about the potential for a new batch of scams.
The Better Business Bureau has a warning about scammers baiting victims about student loan forgiveness. The latest scam could be an unsolicited call, text, email, or phony website.
“Scammers will promise fast forgiveness, whether it is additional benefits, faster benefits or erasing your student debt,” said Kristen Johnson with the BBB. “All of those are empty promises that will lead to an empty pocketbook.”
