Bank of Ireland urges caution following new combined text and call scam threat

Fraudsters have developed a new tactic to trick consumers into handing over their bank details, according to Bank of Ireland.

ustomers are first receiving a text which is then shortly followed up with phone calls to convince them to pass on their banking details.

Once access has been granted to account, funds are then transferred into money-mule accounts or spent immediately on items, such as electrical goods.
