APSO/Gonzales PD warn of phone scams requesting payment of tickets | Pelican Post

The Ascension parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple telephone scam incidents where individuals are impersonating deputies using an APSO phone number and requesting cash/electronic transfer of cash payments for subpoenas, warrants, and/or tickets.

Our agency will NEVER contact you and request any form of cash payment (ex: GreenDot, CashApp, Venmo, PayPal) over the phone for subpoenas, warrants, or tickets. If you receive a phone call that sounds suspicious, HANG UP!!! You can always call our main number at (225) 621-8300 if you need to contact any of our offices.

Again, the Ascension Parish Sherriff’s Office will never request payment over the phone. We encourage our residents to remain cautious whenever forms of payment are requested over the phone from a call you did not initiate.


Earlier this week Gonzales Police Department issued a similar alert:

The Gonzales Police Department will NEVER contact you and request any form of cash payment over the phone for warrants or tickets.

GPD has received numerous reports of a telephone scam, where individuals are impersonating a Gonzales Police Officer and requesting cash/electronic transfer of cash payment for warrants and /or tickets.  These individuals are using actual names of GPD Officers. Do NOT send or provide any form of payment over the phone.

Again, the Gonzales Police Department will never request payment over the phone.
