According to agency reports, the CVC had found gross irregularities and procedural lapses in the execution of the projects. The report was sent by CVC to the Secretary, Vigilance, GNCTD on February 17, 2020 for seeking comments regarding further investigation.
“Main allegations were enhancing construction cost to the extent of Rs 500 crore, without tender, constructing lesser number of classrooms than the number claimed by the Government, violation of GFR and CPWD Works manual, duplicity of works and duplicate payment under Extra Ordinary Repairs (EORs), substandard quality of construction etc (sic),” the letter accessed by Times Now states.
The matter pertains to 207 schools and the commission had ordered an inquiry in 2017. The development comes at a time when the government is already facing charges from Congress crying over an alleged ‘liquor scam’. Days ago, the Delhi LG had written to Kejriwal asking him to ‘personally sign the documents sent to him for approval’. In that letter, the Delhi LG had expressed concern over the practice of CMO officials signing letters on behalf of Kejriwal and sending for LG’s approval.
The Centre and AAP are also at loggerheads over the alleged irregularities under the Excise Policy, in connection with which, the CBI raided the premises linked to Delhi Deputy CM Manish sisodia. AAP has alleged that the BJP is trying to target the Education and Healthcare model implemented by AAP in the national capital.
