The local government of Kaohsiung in Taiwan has been supporting the implementation and development of the 5G AIoT industry in the country to give way for the construction of Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT innovation park.
In 2021, Taiwan’s Central Government announced its plan to invest NT$11 billion ($530 million) in five years for the infrastructure development of Asia New Bay Area innovation park.
The investment will also offer research and development incentives to build a service system for startups.
The scope of the investment plan will see the construction of Kaohsiung Music Centre, Kaohsiung Public Library, Kaohsiung Software Park Information Service, Kaohsiung Exhibition Centre, Kaohsiung Port Cruise Terminal, and others.

In response, Microsoft and 13 other local and international large-scale companies in the field of 5G AIoT vertical application have also lent their hand in the construction of the Asia New Bay Area.
Chunghwa Telecom will invest NT$300 million ($14 million) in building the ICT infrastructure at the park and 5G vertical application testing fields in seven areas.
The City Government also introduced the “006688” incentive, which offers various subsidies ranging from financing interest, house tax, and wage subsidy for new employees, to help the companies gain a firm foothold.
The Asia New Bay Area 5G AIoT innovation park will pursuing opportunities in industry development, building a talent cultivating centre, offering research and development subsidies, and planning for field application.
The opportunities will attract entrepreneurs to invest in research and development in Kaohsiung and utilise the Asia New Bay Area as a test site.
As more large manufacturers establish plants in Kaohsiung, it will form a complete industrial chain and comprehensive solutions and technologies will be exported internationally.
