THE Philippine National Police-Anti Cybercrime Group has arrested two suspects engaged in an online scam during an entrapment operation in Bacoor, Cavite.
According to a report, the PNP-ACG said on Tuesday that the arrest was made at a remittance center on July 15.
Reports said that the operation was hatched after the victim identified as “Mika” claimed that she was defrauded by a Facebook user whom she had transacted with over the sale of a popular speaker brand for P14,500 on July 10, 2022.
After the payment had been made by the victim through the given bank account of one of the suspects, the item was not delivered and they blocked her on Facebook.
Another transaction was made using another FB account on July 15, wherein another victim, identified only as “Paul”, ordered a blender for P3,000.
The victim paid the said amount via digital mobile banking. Through an intensive social media intelligence gathering, the operatives identified the exact location where the suspects will claim the money sent by the victim.
