- Manchester police warn residents to be aware of a new phone scam by a caller pretending to be from the police department. The caller falsely pretends to be. member of the police force and is soliciting money by leaving a message saying, “there is a warrant out for their arrest and need to pay cash bail,” said Manchester Police Public Information Officer Heather Hamel in a statement. “The call is a scam,” she warned. The intimidating calls threaten legal action if the person does not respond. “Again, no one at the Manchester Police Department is making these calls,” Hamel said. Residents are asked to call the police department at 603-668-8711 if they receive a call like this, or feel they have been the victim of a scam.” (Subscription/The Union Leader)
