A High Wycombe woman was threatened after a scam phone call from a person impersonating a police officer.
The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, received a phone call from a man claiming to be from Hammersmith Police Station informing her a man named William Green had been arrested for money laundering and had clones of her credit card.
After the scammer provided her address and postcode, he asked if Mr Green was her grandchild living at her home under her care.
The woman replied saying she had no grandchildren and does not know of Mr Green but the fake officer went on to ask if he should be released from custody to her confusion.
She was then told to ring 191 as a victim but was unable to get through to anyone before she received a second call from a woman who was also impersonating a police officer.
The Wycombe woman described this call as “fishy” as the caller started to ask for credit card details.
She said: “She asked me to check that I had my credit cards, which I did.
“She asked me to look at some sort of number on the back of a card, I informed her that my cards were safely put away again.
“Then she gave me a list of High Stret Banks in this order: Barclays, Lloyds, HSBY, Nationwide and Halifax.
“She asked which one I was with but I stated I was certainly not discussing thins like that on the phone and would go directly to the bank.
“She sounded very ratty and said that anyone could see who I banked…
