Garcia Releases Statement After Voting No On Inflation Reinforcement Act 

Congressman Mike Garcia, R-Santa Clarita, released the following statement Friday after voting against H.R. 5376, a partisan bill that aggravates the current inflationary period.

“The content of this bill has nothing to do with the title,” Garcia said. “This bill raises taxes, cuts jobs and only further aggravates this current inflationary period. From a $52 billion tax hike on small businesses, to adding federal funding for 87,000 additional IRS agents and an increase in audits for middle-class Americans, to $1.5 billion to plant trees in urban areas, none of these progressive wishlist items have anything to do with fighting inflation. These provisions will increase prices and spending year-over-year, which will only further raise the cost of living for all Americans. That will be particularly backbreaking for California families where the cost of living is already unimaginably high.”

Garcia feels this bill also shows that democratic leaders are not taking their jobs seriously.

“The bill further reminds us that congressional Democrats are not taking their jobs seriously in the majority,” Garcia said. Californians already suffer from the highest tax rates in the country, pay an exorbitant amount for gas, and struggle to make ends meet as the cost of living continues to skyrocket.
