Logan County Sheriff’s Office warns about rise in online scam – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

LOGAN COUNTY — The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents in the area to be wary of online scams and spam accounts.

In a post on the office’s Facebook page, they say, “in the past 24 hours we have received over 15 Facebook messages from scam and spam accounts.”

The post went on to say spam emails and text are on the rise. Hackers and scammers are using the pandemic to profit from unsuspecting victims.

From the Sheriff’s offices research, they say the following attacks are on the rise:

  • Phishing Attacks
  • Increased Ransomware Attacks
  • Rise In Cybersecurity Investments
  • Cryptocurrency Fraud Growth
  • Spear Phishing Attacks
