ROME — A 35-year-old woman is accused of stealing two packages from outside a home on West Liberty Street in Rome, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Carrie Schmidka, of Rome, stole two packages that had just been delivered to a home in the 400 block of W. Liberty St. shortly after 11 a.m. Dec. 7. One package was worth $44, the other worth $25, and police said one of them had been a custom-made Christmas gift.
The theft was captured on home security cameras and police said Schmidka was identified through the video. She was then located and taken into custody on Monday on two counts of petty larceny, authorities stated.
Schmidka is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
