As per Goodfirms study over 47% of the social media users have fallen for the online shopping scams as the social media websites continue to offer low-cost setups that would play a vital role to scam people online easily.
The survey that took place between June 1st till 8th June 2022 was done by GoodFirms and was taken online. As online shopping scams continue to harm the economy, phishing links and gift card scams seem to be doing their job too in terms of scamming people online. According to the survey taken online 36.7% of the people have been victimized in terms of gift card scams and phishing link scams each.
Phishing link scams are probably the most common type of scam among all in which a malicious link has been set by the individual in order to gain access to someone’s personal data for example banking information etc. Meanwhile gift card scams promise people to give them fake redeemable gift cards of popular platforms such as amazon worth some dollars.
