With winter construction season underway, the Department of Environmental Conservation wants to remind Vermonters about additional requirements to help protect the state’s waterways. State Environmental Commissioner John Beling says managing construction sites to protect water quality is a year-round challenge. Winter rainfall, thaws, and snowmelt lead to water flowing over frozen and saturated grounds, so it’s key to use measures that reduce erosion and keep soil on construction sites. From October 15 to April 15, Vermont construction activities may require permit coverage.

Vermont’s Department of Financial Regulation has a new “Medicare Open Enrollment-Protect Yourself” flyer to help spread the word about enrollment options and the importance of being vigilant about scammers and other bad actors who may target Medicare participants during open enrollment.  Flyers will be delivered to various area agencies on aging where front-line experts can help people choose plans and provide education around Medicare enrollment that is right for their individual health needs.
