City to vote on demolishing Kilby Motel. Here’s why

LAS CRUCES – After condemning the building over the summer, the City of Las Cruces is considering demolishing the Kilby Motel.

On Monday, the city council will consider a resolution that would authorize city staff to begin demolition.

The city noted hundreds of 911 calls and an inspection of the Kilby that found dilapidated plumbing, substandard and unsafe structures, and fire extinguishers that had not been updated this century as justification for the demolition. The resolution estimates demolition to cost $125,373.
