Quick-thinking man flags down officer during scam call: Parma Heights Police Blotter

Scam: Pearl Road

On Sept. 20, a man flagged down a police officer on Pearl Road after discovering that he was possibly being scammed.

The man just so happened to be on the phone with an alleged representative of the Amazon Fraud Department. The caller was asking the victim to purchase a credit card, then provide the suspect with the information from his purchase.

The officer quickly advised the man that this indeed was a scam and to continue to monitor his credit card activity.

Drunken driving: Pearl Road

On Sept. 18, police observed a speeding Honda Civic on Pearl Road.

While talking to the driver, the officer smelled booze. After failing a field sobriety test, the woman was arrested for drunken driving. She was also cited for speeding.

Warrant: Pearl Road

On Sept. 20, police observed a Hyundai on Pearl Road that came back to an owner with a suspended license.

The driver also committed numerous traffic violations, and it turned out that a female passenger had a warrant. The Parma Heights woman was arrested and held for transport.

As for the Parma Heights driver, the man was cited for driving with a suspended license, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: Cheyenne Trail

On Sept. 20, a Cheyenne Trail resident came to the police station after he discovered that the catalytic converter on his Ford Escape had been cut and removed. There are no suspects. Police are investigating.
