Warning over ‘Evri’ phone parcel scam

DORSET residents are being warned over a new phone scam in which people are asked for a small payment in order to receive a ‘parcel’ awaiting delivery.

North Dorset Police said the scam involves messages being sent by someone purporting to be from Evri.

Recipients are then asked to make a payment of £1.45 in order to receive a parcel that is apparently awaiting delivery.

However, people are then directed to a link to provide their bank details where they will “lose money”.

A North Dorset Police spokesperson said: “A new scam has been brought to our notice involving messages sent by someone purporting to be from Evri asking for a small payment £1.45 for a parcel that is awaiting delivery.

“However when you press the link it won’t take a credit card payment but requires your bank details. If you continue with this link you will lose money.”

The spokesperson added: “Do not engage with these scammers.”
