– Manish Sisodia plans to hand over contract to banned company – Delhi Congress
New delhi date. 21 September 2022, Wednesday
Congress leaders met Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena on Tuesday. The Congress alleged that the Delhi government was planning to hand over the management of public toilets in the city to a banned company instead of NGOs. A delegation of party leaders led by Delhi Congress president Anil Kumar alleged corruption in the Delhi government’s plan to hand over toilets to a company by removing non-profit groups from their management.
A Delhi Congress statement said the delegation had submitted a memorandum to the Lt. Governor seeking an inquiry into the Delhi government’s contract for installing western toilet seats in public toilets. The Delhi Congress chief alleged that Urban Development Minister Manish Sisodia had planned to award the contract for the construction and maintenance of the toilet complex to a banned company.

Anil Kumar accused Sisodia that he himself banned the company.
Why is it being tendered now? Giving the figures, Kumar said, ‘On August 18, a decision was taken to award the contract to a Debard company for the construction of 18,620 toilets in 559 public facility complexes. The Delhi government went to the GeM portal instead of the traditional e-procurement website to issue tenders and offered to award the contract directly to a banned company.’
Why was a banned company allowed to participate in Tangder?
Kumar further alleged that Sisodia himself banned the company for 2 years in 2021 due to its poor performance. Even the High Court has not given a clean chit to this company for its bad record. In the June 8 order, the tender conditions on the GeM portal said that companies with a track record of poor performance would not be able to participate in tender bids. Then how was this company allowed to participate in the tender bid?
Sources in Delhi’s Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) said the plan to award a contract to a company for construction of toilets in a public amenity complex was carried out due to mismanagement by several NGOs. There was no immediate reaction from Delhi government officials on these allegations.
