Govt to further develop doc registration website to diminish threat of land scams

MARGAO: Government is in the process of further developing the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) to counter the threat of fabricated deeds and land scams.
Nilesh Cabral, Minister for Law and Judiciary speaking after releasing the moot court problems for the State Level ‘Dr. Carmo D’Souza Memorial Moot Court Competition’ said that online registration of deeds, which is done through the NGDRS site, will help the Government to counter the threat of fabricated deeds.
“Government will further develop this system so that in future land scams do not take place through fabrication of bogus documents”, he stated.
The moot court competition is organised by the G.R. Kare College of Law Alumni Association at its alma mater.
Lamenting on the portrayal of politicians as demons on social media, Cabral said “This is an incorrect approach. Politicians have many roles to play. Though, as members of the Legislative Assembly, our chief function is to legislate, our considerable time is consumed attending to day to day problems of the public.”
He further said “From helping somebody who is sick, to construction of roads and gutters, we have to attend to all issues. We are always at the service of the people. Public should help us with constructive suggestions so that we can develop a robust system.”
He invited people to participate in strengthening the system so that better governance can be delivered and demanded that public should not only act as critics.
Adv Sanjit Dessai, President of Alumni Association, informed that the purpose of the competition is to create awareness about local laws and socio-political issues and a team of legal experts have drafted the problem with a purpose to make the young students to do research on such legislation. He said that the competition is open for all students from both the law colleges in Goa.
