A United Arab Emirates-based banker has been sentenced to six years in jail for his role in a brazen €100m fraud plot that targeted the Swiss-based offshore shipping company Allseas Group.
Frenchman Othman Louanjli, 43, who worked for a Liechtenstein bank, is the third man to be jailed in connection with the bizarre fraudulent investment scam after years of courtroom battles.
British prosecutors said that Allseas’ executives, including Dutch owner Edward Heerema, were duped in 2011 by a sophisticated group of fraudsters into handing over €100m ($100m) for a get-rich-quick investment scheme.
