$200K Lost In Dating App Scam: Lower Makefield Police

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police are investigating a fraud incident in which a Lower Hilltop Road resident was persuaded to invest $200,000 in Bitcoin.

The resident reported that an unknown person using a dating app convinced them to invest the money, police said.

And now the resident can’t access the cryptocurrency app where the money was deposited, police said.

The fraud incident took place on the unit block of Lower Hilltop Road and was reported at 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 24. The investigation is ongoing.
