The CBI is “reportedly” quizzing Mondal from morning 10 am today on the nexus of cow smuggling, his source of income, how his property increased manifold in the period 2014-2017, properties bought in his daughter and deceased wife’s name, properties owned by him apart from his ancestral house, his bank account details and what kind of investments were made by him, agency sources said.
The agency is interrogating Mondal from today morning on the nexus of cattle smuggling and how Anubrata Mondal benefitted from it, sources said. It is pertinent to mention that CBI during interrogation of BSF Commandant of 17 battalion Satish Kumar, had given inputs after his arrest on how the cattle was smuggled to Malda and Murshidabad, following safe passage from Birbhum and how the money reached influential people, sources said.
Based on such statements, and recorded statements of Mondal’s security personnel & close aide Saigal Hossain, the agency is questioning Mondal. It was also revealed in CBI’s investigation that several “accused procured huge number of cattle from Illambazar Pashuhat and ensured safe passage for transportation of cattle to international border,” CBI sources said.
