Shelling at Ukraine nuclear plant as UN issues warning, reports AFP
Russia and Ukraine accused each other of new shelling near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Thursday ahead of a UN Security Council meeting to address concerns over the facility’s security. Both Moscow and Kyiv said there were five rocket strikes near a radioactive material storage area at the plant, Europe’s biggest nuclear facility which has been a focus of renewed fighting in recent days.

Govt reappoints four independent directors on central board of RBI
The government has reappointed four independent directors, including RSS ideologue S Gurumurthy and cooperative movement veteran Satish K Marathe, on the board of RBI for another four years. Besides, the Centre also re-nominated Revathy Iyer and Sachin Chaturvedi as part-time, non-official directors on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India for a further period of four years after completion of their present tenure on September 18, 2022, the central bank said in statement.

US wholesale prices slow sharply in July, reports AFP
A steep plunge in energy costs last month caused US wholesale prices to cool sharply in July, according to government data Thursday, a welcome sign that more relief is on the way for American families plagued by high inflation.
