Contempt Case: Supreme Court Order On Quantum Of Sentence To Vijay Mallya
The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on the term of punishment in the contempt of court case against fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya. Mallya is accused of being involved in a Rs 9,000-crore bank loan scam involving his Kingfisher airline and has been convicted in a contempt of court case. The court found him guilty of contempt for sending $40 million to his children’s accounts defying court orders.
According to the cause list of July 11 uploaded on the apex court’s website, a bench of Justices UU Lalit, Ravindra S Bhat and PS Narasimha will pronounce the order. Justice Lalit, Justice S. Ravindra Bhat and Justice P.S. Narasimha had on March 10 reserved its decision on fixing the quantum of sentence to be awarded to the accused.
