Pension scams leave Britons up to £250,000 worse off ‘Life savings gone’ | Personal Finance | Finance

Sue Flood told ITV how she never thought she would fall victim to a scam but ended up losing nearly £250,000 in a sophisticated pension scam. She wants to warn others so they don’t fall for the same tricks. 

Sue said: “I had a breakdown.

“I felt like the whole thing had slipped away at the hands of licensed avisors.”

Although the couple had £125,000 left that went on a hefty tax bill and legal fees.

Unfortunately, Sue isnn’t alone – around 10,000 people are scammed out of their pension every year.

Meanwhile, more than two million pensioners are struggling to make ends meet.

Some 850,000 are entitled to Pension Credit but don’t claim it.

It could be worth up to £7,000 a year.

It also acts as a gateway benefit to things like a free TV licence if people are also 75.
