Fraudsters have been trying to scam individuals out of their hard-earned cash in a new ‘Carphone Warehouse’ scam.
Scammers cold-call potential victims and impersonate the mobile phone retailer under the pretence of offering a cheap upgrade to the latest iPhone model.

According to Which?, the scam begins will a cold-call from a landline number, with the scammer asking for your personal email address ‘to send details’ of the so-called promotion.
However, the email that potential victims receive is littered with spelling mistakes and strange wording. The email asks for payment information in order to complete the ‘upgrade’.
A Carphone Warehouse spokesperson said: ‘We have been alerted to this scam and in no part has this activity been undertaken by Carphone Warehouse. Unfortunately there are a large number of criminals who are constantly attempting to dupe unsuspecting shoppers.
