WESTLAKE, Ohio –
Crash: Bradley Road
Officers at 2:30 p.m. on June 3 responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a utility pole with potential injuries on Bradley Road at Clemens Road.
Officers determined that a BMW made a left turn in front of another vehicle, causing a crash that eventually involved three vehicles. A 16-year-old male was cited.
One person was transported to University Hospitals St. John Medical Center with minor injuries.
OVI: Detroit Road
A woman called the Westlake Police Department at 6:15 p.m. on May 28 to report a suspected drunk driver leaving a bar on Detroit Road.
Police officers became suspicious about the caller because she seemed confused and reported not only a possible OVI, but she also claimed to have been the victim of an assault by the suspected drunken driver in another location in the city. The caller then went on to suggest that police check an area nursing home for a suspected organized crime figure from the 1970s who she said had been kidnapped.
Officers located the 55-year-old Avon caller in her car in a parking lot. She again gave officers a confusing story, according to a police department press release. Officers administered field sobriety tests and then arrested the woman for her sixth OVI, according to the report.
At the Westlake jail, the driver refused a breath test. Officers were not able to get ahold of the other party involved in the possible altercation.
