Boris Becker was told that he had lost his “career and reputation” as he was jailed for two years and six months today after being convicted of concealing assets following his bankruptcy.
Becker, who had arrived at court holding the hand of his partner, Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, wore a striped tie in the Wimbledon colours of purple and green. The former Wimbledon champion showed no emotion as he was led to the cells at Southwark crown court.
His lawyer had told the court that the six-times grand slam champion had been left with “literally nothing to show for what was the most glittering of sporting careers.”
