On New York’s Long Island, the Hamptons getaway that once belonged to disgraced financier Bernie Madoff came back on the market last Friday asking $22.5 million.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Montauk features interiors by architect and designer Thierry Despont and sits on 1.5 acres that include 180 feet of direct Atlantic Ocean beachfront, according to the listing with Tim Davis of Corcoran.

Madoff ran what is estimated to have been the largest Ponzi scheme in history, eventually pleading guilty to 11 felonies including securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering, the Wall Street Journal has previously reported. Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison, and died of natural causes in a facility for inmates with special health needs at age 82 in 2021.
The home’s Interiors include barrel-vaulted ceilings and dramatic high windows in the living room, which is set around a natural stone fireplace, per the listing. A spacious, airy kitchen features floor-to-ceiling windows and abundant natural light, according to listing photos. A primary bedroom features sliding glass doors that open out onto an outdoor deck, as well as a bathroom with dual sinks.
The property also includes an oceanfront pool and deck, and is available for immediate occupancy.
