Maharashtra cyber cell cautions people amid growing cases of online frauds and sextortion

Mumbai: Social media has become an inevitable part of our lives in those words, from the smallest of things to some of the most important things in our lives, people share details of their lives with the world. While it is a way to connect with our loved ones despite not being physically present, a lot of people fall into the trap of fraudsters.

Maharashtra cyber cell officials and experts have warned social media users against the growing number of online frauds and sextortion cases.

In sextortion cases, people are befriended into becoming online friends, lured into online sex, filmed and then blackmailed.
