Families lost life savings as Tamworth salesman locked up for swindling almost £500k in sham car-selling scheme

A salesman who swindled unsuspecting customers out of their life savings after tricking them into a sham car-selling scheme has been locked up. Tyrone Daley ‘cheated’ loyal customers out of almost of nearly half a million pounds after promising them profits but never giving them a penny.

The 57-year-old fraudster scammed victims into buying cars which actually did not exist and even ripped off his own friends, Staffordshire Live reports. He has now been jailed for more than five years for his offending.

Detective Constable Marc Bailey, of Staffordshire Police, said: “Over the time period in which the offences took place, Daley stole public money which had a huge impact on his victims. Daley defrauded individuals out of money, taking advantage of their good nature and trust.

“We are pleased with the court’s decision and hope that Daley uses this time to contemplate his actions and the financial and mental impact he has had on those he has targeted.”

Daley’s actions left families divided and people having lost their life savings. Some were left having to borrow money from their own children after falling victim to his scams .

In one case Daley told five different “loyal” customers he had a car to sell and took at least £4,500 from each of them as payment for the car but they never received the the vehicle, a court has heard. Daley also got friends of many years to invest in…
